Course description

During our throwing courses you will learn how to throw at the wheel or be taught how to improve your existing throwing skills.

As the lessons are for only 3 students, our teacher will tailor the classes specifically to your skills, needs and aims.

Our throwing courses is suitable for all levels, including experienced potters looking to improve or learn specific skills.

What to bring

Remember to bring an apron and do not dress up in your favourite outfit as clay can get messy. 

Ideally have your nails cut short and your hair tied up.

Materials and tools included in the course

Clay - Any fired clay will be charged at £5 per kg. This works out around £2 for an average piece and it is aimed at discouraging students from firing pieces they do not intend to keep: clay can only be recycled before it is fired. A maximum of 2 pieces per class can be fired during this course and a maximum of 2 plates per course of up to 25cm diameter. Maximum height per piece of 20cm. Pieces that do not comply with these guidelines will be charged at £10/Kg.

Glazing - The cost of glazing in any of our 5 studio glazes is included in the course. Glazing will be done by our technician.

Tools - you will have access to all the tools you need for the workshop. If you would like to bring specific tools that you use in you practice you are more than welcome to, however please remember to take them with you after the class, as we cannot be held responsible for any tool going missing.

Terms of cancellation 

All bookings are non-refundable. 

If you are no longer able to attend your course, please let us know as soon as possible and at least 14 days before the first class and we will do our best to help. If we can find another person to take over your place on the course we will allow you to reschedule your booking to another course upon payment of a £20 admin fee. If no other person books your place we will not be able to reschedule you.

Location: Gatehouse A, The Old Imperial Laundry, 87 Warriner Gardens, London SW11 4XW
Day & Time of class: as indicated above or chosen from the drop down menu at check-out
Duration: As per drop down menu (including 15 minutes cleaning at the end of each session)
Experience required: none
Max number of students in each class: 3
Collection: 3-5 weeks after the end of the course. We will send you an email to let you know when your pieces are ready for collection. The email will also include a payment link for the cost of the clay fired which must be paid before the finished pieces are collected.
