Terms & Conditions.

Please ensure you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions before booking any of our classes and services.

By booking or attending a class and by using any of our services you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted the Terms and Conditions.

Muni Ltd. may at any time modify these Terms and Conditions. We will notify you of any changes to these Terms and Conditions either by emailing you and/or by posting a notice at the Studio. By continuing to use the Services after changes to these Terms and Conditions are made and notified, you agree to be bound by such changes.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are familiar with the current Terms and Conditions.

Contract of Sale

Completion of the booking process and acceptance of our Terms and Conditions forms your contract with Muni Ltd. (hereafter, referred in these terms and conditions as ‘Muni London’, ‘The Company’ or ‘The Studio’).

Payment

Payment of the full class or course fees must be made in advance. It is not possible to attend a class or course until full payment has been received.

Payment through our website is made via our secure check out pages using secure payment service provider ‘Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd’.

The Stripe Payments Europe Ltd is PCI compliant. PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

For some classes and courses students are required to pay a fee based on fired clay weight. All extra fees and allowances per class are stated in the relevant classes page of the website Shop. Any extra fee will be chargeable via card payment at the Studio or via online payment link prior to collection of the finished pieces.

Cancellation policy

All bookings are non-refundable.

If you are no longer able to attend your class, please let us know as soon as possible and at least 14 days before the class and we will do our best to help. If we can find another person to take over your place on the class we will issue you with a credit note for the cost of your booking minus a £20 per person admin fee. If no other person books your place we will not be able to issue a credit note. If you let us know less than 14 days before your class we cannot offer a reschedule or credit note.

Please note events have special cancellation policy which will be detailed in the specific event page.

Transfers to another class/worskhop of the same or lower cost may be possible too - please refer to ‘Transfers’ for details.

If you book an add-on ‘paint your on pieces’ class you must book and attend a workshop a day or two before and clearly notify the teacher so that your pieces are wrapped and set aside. If you are not able to attend the workshop we will treat that as a late cancellation of the add-on too.

Courses: Once you have committed to a course, we recommend that you attend the scheduled number of sessions to get the most out of the program. If you fail to attend all or any part of the classes a refund won't be issued and we are unable to offer alternative classes for you to attend. This same policy applies to lessons missed due to illness or self isolation. Please note that attendance to a course or class is your responsibility and that we will not get in touch to check on you if you fail to attend any session.

Delegate substitution

A substitute delegate may be named up to 24 hours before the class begins at no additional cost. To do so you must email us with all relevant details.

For courses lasting more than one day it is not possible to name delegates after the first session has been held. It is also not possible to name delegates to attend one of the classes only.

Transfers

Transfers to alternative days and/or times are only possible up to 14 days before your booked class date and subject to a £20 per person admin fee. Transfers are subject to availability and no guarantee is made about a transfer being possible.

Transfers are only accepted for 1-day taster classes or workshops and private 1-1 & 1-2 sessions but unfortunately transfers are not possible for general courses or events. Any transfer must be for a service of same or lower price than your initial booking. Requests for transfers must be made in writing by email.

Course content & teacher

We reserve the right to change the timing, date, content, structure or instructor of a course at our discretion and without notice when necessary.

Muni London shall not be held responsible in respect of any particular Session, instructor and/or item of equipment not being available for whatever reason.

The Company shall not be liable for any loss occasioned by such alterations except insofar as such loss is by law incapable of exclusion.

Course Output Limits

For environmental reasons (if unwanted pieces are fired they can no longer be recycled and are likely to end up in landfill) as well as due to limited shelf and kiln capacity, we specify the number of pieces made in each course or class which can be fired, glazed, etc.

Muni London reserves the right to revise and amend class output limits to make sure all makers' pieces of work can be stored safely and fired properly.

You will be asked to mark your pieces with a code specific to each class and your initials, which the teacher will communicate to you during the class, as well as your choice of glaze. This is so we can identify who each piece belongs to and efficiently plan and run the kiln firings. Note that if you do not mark your pieces and we are unable to identify them we may dispose of them. If you do not mark your choice of glaze your pieces will be glazed in our studio white.

Technicians will not fire items in which the glaze is deemed to have been applied too thickly or in a way that might damage the kiln. Please ensure you follow the tutor’s advice on glazing to prevent issues.

Course Cancellations

We reserve the right to cancel a course or class up to and including the date of the course if insufficient bookings have been received and will strive to give as much notice to booked participants as possible. Muni London shall not be responsible or liable for any delay in or failure to run Courses if such delay or failure is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control.

Individuals booked onto a cancelled course will be given the option of a full refund or of rescheduling to a future course date if available. The Company will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising from amendments to the course or cancellations.

Muni London reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to close the Studio at any time during the year.

Late attendance

It is the responsibility of the participant to arrive ahead and in time for their booked class. It is down to the discretion of the tutor to not accept a late arrival to a course if the late arrival is potentially detrimental to fellow students. This will be treated as a late cancellation, for which the full course fee will be payable.

Cleaning

All participants in a class or course are required to clean their workspace and any areas of the Studio that they have used at the end of each class, this is for good studio practice and to prevent the build-up of clay dust.

Collection of the work produced during a Class

It takes 3 to 5 weeks for the pieces to be ready for collection after the class. It can sometimes take longer depending on the Studio's kiln firing schedule and the weather conditions (for example in the winter months pieces might take longer to dry).

Please check the ‘collections’ page on the footer of our website to see when your pieces become available for collection.

We can not keep finished pieces for longer than three weeks due to limited storage. If pieces are not collected within 3 weeks of becoming ready for collection we reserve the right to dispose of them or sell them in our markets. The proceeds from sales of uncollected pieces are used to offer classes at reduced prices to disadvantaged groups, disabled student groups and other collectives in need.

If you are unable to collect your work you can name a person to collect it on your behalf.

Zero tolerance on abuse policy

We operate a zero tolerance on abuse policy at Muni. Our studio is a place to come together as a community and we expect our students to be kind and respectful to other students and to our teachers and staff. No form of physical or non physical abuse or anti-social behaviour will be tolerated.

Examples of these include (but are not limited to):

  • Excessive noise (loud or intrusive conversation, shouting)

  • Derogatory racial, religious or sexual remarks or behaviour

  • Inappropriate behaviour as a result of alcohol or misuse of illicit drugs - anyone showing signs of alcohol intoxication or drug use will be asked to leave

  • Intimidation, threats or threatening behaviour, including swearing or offensive remarks

  • Violence

  • Any explicit or implicit challenge to the safety, well-being or health of any member of staff or other students

  • Brandishing weapons or objects which could be used as weapons

If you do not respect this policy you will be asked to leave. Note that we have CCTV at the studio and may, following an incident, investigate the matter further, reporting it to the police if required.

Gift Cards

Gift Cards are valid for six months from the date of purchase. Upon redemption of a gift card, the Class booking will be subject to these Terms and Conditions. If the value of the gift card is lower than the cost of the class the recipient wants to purchase, the remaining balance will need to be paid by the recipient. If the cost of the class is less than the value of the gift card, the gift card will remain in credit for the outstanding amount.

Gift cards cannot be used towards the purchase of another gift card.

Health and Safety

Muni London takes a diligent approach to health and safety. Students are agreeing to abide by the guidelines of our Health & Safety instructed by tutors. Repeated failure to do so will result in termination of the students participation rights on the class or course, without refund.

Students use the Studio at their own risk with awareness of the inherent hazards of a pottery studio environment, which include, but are not limited to, use of sharp tools and sharp edges, exposure to toxic materials, the dangers of using materials and equipment at high temperatures, as well as the risks associated with breathing silica dust.

Muni London accepts no liability for any injury suffered by any student on the Studio premises or outside the Studio.

Each student is required to keep all surfaces clean of clay and glaze, and to clean all areas including the floor around their work station thoroughly before completing their session. This is to minimise the risks caused by breathing clay and glaze dusts.

No student is to get near the kiln area. Please keep at least 1.5m distance to the kiln at all times.

In the interests of safety and hygiene, no crockery, glass or food are permitted in the Studio.

The exit must be kept clear at all times. In the event of a fire, Students are asked to make their way to the exit.

Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is forbidden in the Studio.

Children and people under 18 are not permitted in the Studio. No pets are permitted in the Studio.

Personal belongings are brought onto the Studio premises at the Students' own risk and Muni London does not accept liability for any loss or damage to such items.

Covid-19 safety measures

Please note that in line with Government regulations you are no longer required to wear a face mask during your time at the Studio covering your mouth and nose.

In the event of another lockdown all courses will be suspended. The classes will be rescheduled once it is safe and permitted to open the Studio again.

Technical issues and breakages

The Studio is equipped with high quality kiln and equipment. Experienced and trained staff will handle and fire your ceramic work. However, by the nature of ceramics unfortunately there always remains a risk of technical failure and/or breakage of the pieces for which the Studio and trained staff cannot be held responsible.

Clay and glazes disclaimer

We may at any given time change the type of clay and glaze mixtures that we use at the Studio. Because of this, there is no guarantee that the pieces you make will match the finish of other pieces you may have made at an earlier visit or which you may have seen someone else make.

From time to time we may release promotional coupons with discounts. The specific conditions that apply to each coupon are listed below:

Photography disclaimer

The images used in this website and our social media are illustrative only and used for inspiration and are therefore not representative of the pieces you will achieve during our classes. Each person brings their own personality, creativity, pace and skill into the ceramics process and therefore the outcome of the same session will be different for each participant.
